Literary Legacies: 1960 Pittsburgh Pirates Day by Day: A Special Season and Extraordinary World Series
Pittsburgh, PA, home to Dorrance Publishing, is also the home of the Pittsburgh Pirates. In 1960, the Pirates won the World Series in spectacular fashion. In fact, the series’ game seven has been described by ESPN as “the greatest game ever played.”
This season inspired Rick Cushing to write 1960 Pittsburgh Pirates Day by Day: A Special Season and Extraordinary World Series, chronicling the season, from first pitch to World Series victory.
Cushing has experienced success in promoting his book, as we highlighted in a November 2013 Dorrance blog post: He’s been featured in Pittsburgh Magazine and on the Pittsburgh Pirates’ website. He even held a book signing event at the 1960 World Series celebration in PNC Park in 2010. But what’s more, he and Dorrance forged a partnership that allowed his publishing dreams to come true.
